Aqaba, the only coastal city in Jordan, is a base for diving the coral reefs of the Red Sea or heading to the Star Wars-esque landscape of the rocky Wadi Rum. The city landmarks – from ancient ruins to a showstopping mosque – illuminate fascinating elements of Islamic culture and Middle Eastern history.
On the shores of the Red Sea, Aqaba is a wonderful beach destination. What is more, it has something for everyone. Those in search of R&R can head to Berenice Beach Club, with a wonderful resort-style beach and loads of activities on offer, from snorkelling, to jet skiing and kite surfing.
There are NO safety issues involved in travelling to Aqaba or to Jordan in general. Believe it or not, Jordan is a much safer country than the USA!
5 days its enough to relax in aqapa snorkelling and diving and do all the activities and drink and enjoy.
A vacation to Aqaba for one week usually costs around JOD504 for one person. So, a trip to Aqaba for two people costs around JOD1,008 for one week. ... If you're traveling as a family of three or four people, the price person often goes down because kid's tickets are cheaper and hotel rooms can be shared.
“Sharks can be found in Aqaba, but in very low numbers. When sighted, they are usually visiting, as they swim alongside ships or are tracking prey as they come from the open Red Sea,” Abu Awali told The Jordan Times.
Roads in Jordan are also safe, but, for the typical British driver may be a little overwhelming. In summary, you can and you should drive to Aqaba – especially if you are able to break up the journey by stopping at various destinations along the route.
The Jett bus is the best and cheapest way to get from Aqaba to Amman. Much more comfortable than the local minibuses, especially if you have luggage. Travel time will be around 5 hours, the bus makes a short stop somewhere along the way. You can reserve your seat a day before at the Jett office in Aqaba.
